People bite their lips when thinking sometimes afaik, don't know about the cheek thing. I don't do either of those things.

Lol, I used to do that! I don't know how I got over it, it just happened I guess. It is really annoying though ^^.

Can be a stress thing aswell, sucking and chewing is an unconsciously comforting action which stems from childhood (hence babies and their dummies - pacifiers in US) the mouth and lips also have some of the most sensitive cells in them (which is why babies put everything in their mouths - it helps them to make sense of the world as their eyesight isnt great) so people suck their thums and bite their lips/cheeks when they encounter things they dont understand and feel uneasy with them - unconsciously theyre trying to make sense of the new situation.

No idea how to stop it though!

try to smile all the time then you will not bite them (but you may look a bit stupid while smiling all the time). It helped me a lot to get rid of this habit. Now I try to figure out how to stop biting myself while sleeping....

Not really a habit. Probably stress, my blood pressure used to be over 150/95 (when I was 14...) and I constantly chew my cheeks. I do it right now, but probably because I'm hungry.

I did do that a few years back, when i had depression and insomina problems. I never realized the (possible) connection though, but now realize i stopped biting at the same time i resolved my other problems.

Not implying you have problems, just thinking out lout, via a keyboard :cyborg:

Rather than grind my teeth I chew the inside of my cheeks when I'm on E (enjoyable at the time, very painful the next day). It's actually developed into a full time habit, so no, you're not alone. It doesn't really bother me, just makes me look slightly gaunter than I actually am.

I have a really bad habit of biting my finger nails when i am watching a film or some episode from tv, It started a few years ago, i don't know why.

Luckily i do not watch tv much at all and i only really watch anything from tv when i download it but it can get very painful while watching episodes of stargate or a decent film on the computer

You can cut the inside of your cheeks and lips so it's extremely painful to chew them.

Om nom nom nom nom

Tbh most people have some kind of bad habit like this, however I need to do something with my hands, not with my mouth. But I sometimes have the jaw strongly closed, making big pressure in my mouth. I notice about half hour later when it starts to hurt and then I release.

I've got like all of these. Except rubbing my ears...

I've always bit my fingers and nails as far back as I can remember. I bite the inside of my cheek and lip all the time too.

The thing that has kind of helped me is a lip piercing. Now instead of biting my fingers or lips, I bite my piercing. Its been a long time since I've bit my fingers or lips until they've bled, and I'm sure its because of my piercing.

Just try to find a new bad habit.

lol - lots of people have there little comfort things that they do all the time, it doesn't mean that they are nervous or on edge from stress - it's like a baby with a security blanket.

I often bite on the inside of my cheek if I am concentrating intently on something, but that is about the only time. I have no idea if it actually aids in the concentration or not.
